Helicopter accident takes the lives of three air ambulance crew members

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — A helicopter crash in Owenton, Kentucky took the lives of three crew members from the base 133 Air Evac Lifeteam.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the helicopter crashed in Owenton around 6 p.m. on Monday night and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.

In a social media post, the Owen County Fire and Rescue Departments say this has been prompted as a federal investigation after the helicopter crashed near Amigos.

During this ongoing investigation, the Air Evac Lifeteam took to social media to announce the passing of three of their crew members from Grant County, whose identities have not yet been shared.

Officials say the crew members were on their way to a scene to pick up a patient when the accident occurred.

It is said the Air Evac Lifeteam will be working with the FAA and NTSB during this investigation.
