    Local agencies asking for donations to assist following Hurricane Helene

    HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – Local agencies and organizations are coming together to collect supplies for rural first responders and survivors in western North Carolina following Hurricane Helene.

    To assist, the Boonville Fire Department Local 4850, Warrick County Emergency Management, Mount Carmel (Illinois) Fire Department and Impact Ministries in Boonville are participating in the effort and are asking for donations of the following items:

    • Water
    • Electrolyte mix (Body Armor, Liquid IV)
    • Medical supplies
    • Chainsaw fuel, bar oil, bars and chains (20 inch)
    • Chainsaw chaps, helmets and files (3/8, .325)
    • Benadryl and over the counter medications
    • Batteries, headlamps and lanterns
    • Handwarmers
    • Warm hats, gloves and socks
    • Diapers and wipes
    • Feminine hygiene products
    • Bleach and cleaning supplies
    • Trash bags and tarps
    • Work/rubber boots (men 8-13) (women 6-10)
    • Camp stoves/fuel
    • Gas cans
    • Canned dog and cat food
    • Portable generators
    • Shovels, brooms and dust pans
    • Propane

    “When disaster strikes, it is our duty to help, protect and serve the communities during the hardest times,” officials said. “Let’s support those who have lost everything and make a positive impact during this difficult period.”

    Officials say people can drop supplies off at 410 S. 4th Street (Boonville Fire Department) until October 10 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
