Six hospitalized after coal mine accident in Knox County

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Knox County dispatchers have confirmed six people were taken to a hospital following a coal mine accident in Bruceville.

Officials say the accident happened just before 11 p.m. central time at the Sunrise Coal Mine One Portal Two. Two medical helicopters were called to the scene to transport some victims. Dispatch has confirmed to our sister station, WTWO, that the incident was not a collapse, but an underground incident.
