Ink, tattoos from across country descend to Owensboro

OWENSBORO, Ky (WEHT) – Ink and tattoos are taking over Owensboro for the weekend.

About 100 artists from all over the country descended to the Owensboro Convention Center.

Co-owner and co-promoter Andrew Hornback says they had artists from all over the country come to be a part. He said some artists came all the way from California, Texas, New York, Chicago, Florida and all kinds of middle America.

Hornback also said the artists have done this professionally for at least a couple of years plus apprentice work, travel for awards and most importantly, do great art.

Hornback says the artists are well-vetted and must have their work approved by other professionals before they could add their name to the entry list.

Hornback said despite the turnout, he doesn’t expect it to grow much bigger.

“We like keeping our conventions a little bit smaller, catering more to the artists, keeping more of a community vibe for everybody, so the artists can kind of grow and connect with each other,” he said.

The event runs until 10 p.m. on Friday and will last through the entire weekend from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday.

Some entries that are in attendance are Studio Ink, Love & Devotion, Industry Ink, Sinner Ink and Blessed Ink.
