HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — A high-speed police chase across county lines ended in a crash at the University of Southern Indiana.

Police pursuit ends with crash at USI

The Posey County Sheriff’s Office says the driver, identified as Darick Wilkins, faces several charges including operating a vehicle while intoxicated and reckless driving.

Posey County deputies say it all began around 11:30 p.m. Thursday after they received reports that a car in Mount Vernon had lost control while doing burnouts and had driven away.

A deputy says they saw the car driven by Wilkins going towards Evansville and began chasing the vehicle, reaching speeds of 105 miles per hour. They say the chase led them into Vanderburgh County and onto University Parkway where Wilkins collided with another car.

Deputies say Wilkins seemed disoriented and was slurring his words. An affidavit obtained by Eyewitness News says his blood alcohol level tested three times the legal limit. Wilkins is being held in the Posey County Jail.
