Wathen Lane project has new contractors

HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – The Wathen Lane project in Henderson has new contractors.

According to city officials, Yager Materials Corporation of Owensboro has been purchased by Hinkle Contracting Company of Lexington.

In a letter to officials, Yager shares they have assigned “the construction contract, associated subcontracts, and all HMA mix designs to Hinkle Contracting Company, LLC for the Wathen Lane Upgrade project,”.

City officials say the sale has not caused any planned interruptions and residents will begin seeing Hinkle Contracting equipment on site as soon as Tuesday.

The project was first announced in February 2024. Work began in March that includes the widening of the road, installation of a waterline, building of curbs and gutters and building an 8-foot-wide multi use path on the golf course side of the road. Work is scheduled through November 1, and no local traffic is allowed through the construction zone.
