Upgrades coming to Owensboro playground

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Owensboro officials announced a grant awarded by the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet will allow for upgrades to the Moreland Park playground.

According to a release, the grant will be used to fund the installation of poured-in-place rubber playground surfacing to enhance safety, accessibility and inclusivity for all visitors. In order for the upgrades to take place, the playground will be closed temporarily until November 18, pending delays or inclement weather.

Officials say the poured-in-place rubber playground surfacing is designed to provide superior shock absorption and impact attenuation to reduce the risk of injuries from falls.
