Who’s in the News: Brian Smith

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) – Earlier this week, it was announced that Brian Smith would be this year’s Grand Marshal at the Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade.

Smith originally comes from southern California, but says that he came to the Owensboro community after purchasing Diamond Lake Resort in 2005. He operated the campground for 16 years, and then went on to represent the community during the Great Race, which he described as one of his “bucket list items”.

During the parade, Smith will be riding the same 1930 Ford Model A Tudor Sedan that he drove in the Great Race from Owensboro to New England last summer with his navigator, Scott Howard.

I sat down with Smith this week and talked with him about past community events at Diamond Lake Resort, the Great Race and what he expects for this year’s Christmas Parade. You can view highlights of the interview in the video player above.
