Disaster Recovery Center in Wharton County Temporarily Closed Aug. 24
AUSTIN – A Disaster Recovery Center in Wharton County will temporarily close on Saturday Aug. 24. The Center will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Monday Aug. 26. All Disaster Recovery Centers operate from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday – Saturday, closed on Sunday. Any DRC can help with both Hurricane Beryl and the April 26 – June 5 storms and flooding. SRT HELPS ARREST MAN ON RUN FROM LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT
An Edinburg, Texas man was arrested after leading local law enforcement on a pursuit. At approximately 5:45pm on Thursday, several Deputies with the Austin County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Hwy 60 just south of Wallis near the Wharton County line, in an attempt to locate a vehicle that had been involved in a pursuit.

Air conditioning outages at Houston ISD schools a result of maintenance worker layoffs, union leader says
HOUSTON — Just two weeks into the fall semester, the frustration is boiling over for students and parents at Houston ISD schools plagued with air conditioning outages.
