WEIRTON, W.Va. (WTRF) — West Virginia Governor Jim Justice took the stage in Weirton on Monday as the announcement to bring back the Clevland Cliffs tin plate facility as a transformer manufacturing plant was made.

The Governor says the announcement is a win for the Cleveland Cliffs employees, the Weirton community, and for the country as a whole.

He says right now it is extremely difficult to get transformers throughout the United States.

According to Governor Justice repurposing the Weirton facility will provide an endless amount of opportunities.

“From the standpoint of our electric grid, it’s everything to AI and all the different things that are coming down the pike that could come to this great state and could come to our nation. This is way bigger, even though it’s fabulous for 600 people and fabulous for this great community and our great state. But it’s bigger than that.”

The Governor also commented on President Biden’s decision to not seek re-election saying he believes Vice President Kamala Harris will be the Democratic nominee and says it’s more important now than ever for the republican party to step up their game.
