Lexington City Council members are being asked to consider a local law about construction blasting notification. Sixth District Council representative Denise Gray said the request comes from residents in her district who live across the interstate from the Polo Club Boulevard community.

“Ensuring that our residents that are outside that half-mile blasting diameter know what’s going on and why their house is shaking. So this is a way to keep the resident informed of what’s going on,” said Gray.

Gray said it’s not specifically focused on the risk of structural damage.

Gray said this local measure would be in addition to state requirements. The proposed ordinance could be taken up by Council members in the coming weeks.
