    Get fired up for the 4th Annual WV Coalfields Cookoff

    WELCH, WV (WVNS)– Barbecue, bands, and beer- oh my! It’s time for the 4th Annual West Virginia Coalfields Cookoff.

    The festival will take place within the city of Welch from Friday, June 7, 2024 to Saturday, June 8, 2024. On Friday, festivities begin as early as 9 a.m. and last until 11:30 p.m., whereas Saturday’s schedule kicks off at 7 a.m. and goes until around 6 p.m.

    This two-day festival includes a delicious BBQ competition, band performances, beer and other tasty drinks, plus a variety of food, vendors and $13,000 in prizes. The Motown Legacy band in particular will be performing on Friday evening. BBQ competitors include pro teams such as Good Googly Goo BBQ, Uncle Pig’s Barbecue Pit and more.

    Town of Fayetteville to host the 2024 Heritage Festival

    This year’s event will also have a brand new feature, which is the option for $10 ATV rides by Coal Town ATV Rentals, which start at 11a.m. on Saturday at Martha Moore Park.

    Barbecue lovers will also be happy to hear that a BBQ tasting is also $10, kids are free, and veterans and first responders get a $5 discount.

    McDowell Street will also be closed off for the duration of the festival, with regular traffic being rerouted to a two-lane road on Wyoming Street.

    The West Virginia Coalfields Cook-off is put on with the Kansas City Barbecue Society.
