Not only will the bell ring for the first time in approximately 20 years, but the date also marks the anniversary of the deaths of Sid Hatfield and Ed Chambers . Hatfield and Chambers were shot on the courthouse steps on August 1, 1921.

The McDowell County Commission stated that the public is welcome to attend.
