Greeley man arrested with fentanyl pills, defaced gun after short foot chase
A man is in the Weld County Jail after police arrested him with more than 20 grams of suspected fentanyl pills and a defaced gun earlier this month. Police arrested 37-year-old Christopher Montoya on July 10 after they recognized him coming out of a suspected drug house, according to an affidavit for his arrest.
Weld County Fair royalty presents fair book to Weld County commissioners
The 106th Weld County Fair starts Saturday at Island Grove Regional Park, 501 N. 14th Ave., Greeley. The Weld County Fair Royalty Court on Monday continued the time-honored tradition of presenting the Weld County commissioners with the fair book. Milliken Police Officer Cleared Of Criminal Wrongdoing In Teen’s Shooting
A Milliken police officer has been cleared of any criminal charges in connection with the shooting of a teenager last month. That determination was made by Weld County DA Michael Rourke who issued his decision in a press release Wednesday. Authorities say on June 3rd, 18 year old Colin Brixius called police to say he was in front of Milliken Middle School and told police to come get him. Upon an officer’s arrival, Brixius reportedly began to run at the officer with a large knife in hand, prompting the officer to first deploy his Taser, which had no effect, and then to fire five rounds. Brixius was released from the hospital July 11, and booked into the Weld County Jail on charges of first-degree assault on a public official and felony menacing.
Meeting Monday On Overnight Shelter Closure In Greeley
A Monday meeting is scheduled as The United Way of Weld County and the city of Greeley discuss the closure of the overnight homeless shelter for the summer. The Greeley Tribune reports the meeting runs from 6-7 p.m. Monday at the LINC Library at 501 8th Ave. The shelter is scheduled to close through November when it will reopen for its normal cold-weather shelter operations. The cold-weather shelter is traditionally open into April each year. This year, operations were extended through July 31 because of a $485,850 contribution from the city.
