July 15th Storms Set New Record For Most Tornadoes in One Day
We all knew as it was happening that the storms on July 15th were not your typical, everyday storm system. The derecho brought not one, not two, but THIRTY ONE tornadoes in the NWS Chicago office’s coverage area, which is a new record. The previous record was 22 set during similar derecho events on June 30, 2014 and March 31st, 2023!

Illini Football 2024: revamped defense poised for a breakout season
CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The University of Illinois football team returned to training camp this week, and the co-defensive coordinator/defensive line coach was on hand to talk about new and returning players. Coach Terrance Jamison discussed how they holistically look at training this year’s defensive players. “I am with them on and off the field, to make sure they have the mental and physical aspects of the game. Physically, how they train and develop our skill set – the fundamentals,” said Jamison. “We tailor that for each of our players, and their personal skill set. We want smart ball players. We teach them things. We expose them to things. We practice specific game situations.”

Two Indicted on Charges of Possession of Stolen Vehicles
A La Salle County grand jury has indicted two people on charges of possession of stolen vehicles. On July 21, 33-year-old Travis Thomas of Marseilles was booked on a felony charge of possession of a stolen vehicle. According to court records, Thomas was involved in a crash that day that also led to a few tickets including leaving the scene of an accident.
