Even the dogs wouldn’t go peacefully last evening! [hn photos]
HN PHOTO NOTES: Above HN photos: A little white dog wasn’t playing when officers tried to take him into custody early this morning. The male driver had just been arrested for OUI, and the female passenger had just been taken into protective custody, when a Massachusetts Environmental Police Officer entered the pickup truck in an effort to convince the remaining pooch to come along nicely… but the pooch started to scrap with the officer, deciding he wasn’t having any of his “come along nicely” b.s. And why would he? the driver had just refused to cooperate with field sobriety tests, according to radio transmissions, and the passenger had just finished swearing her head off at officers while violently banging against the backseat of a Yarmouth Police cruiser. Patrol officers had finally stopped the pickup truck after it allegedly just failed to stop for a traffic control officer working a detail near the westside base of the Bass River Bridge… and according to a source, the pickup came close to striking the officer. The dog was the last to be hauled in. A number of officers surrounded the truck and eventually managed to safely secure the pup inside a plastic kennel. All three occupants of the pickup were transported back to Yarmouth PD Headquarters for processing and booking. Above HN photos: Things weren’t any easier for Barnstable police officers earlier last evening. A number of squad cars responded to an area behind a convenience store on Ocean Street for a report of a female assaulting a couple of individuals, according to radio transmissions. When HN arrived on scene, Hyannis FD EMTs were bandaging a senior’s hand while he was seated on his walker. An angry, heavyset woman began screaming and physically resisting officers as they tried to take her into custody. She appeared to be screaming at a relative on scene. Officers then had a difficult time getting her to safely enter the backseat of one of their cruisers. She wasn’t cooperating and her volatile behavior was escalating… when one officer mentioned that she was about to get pepper sprayed. Officers were able to eventually secure the woman in the backseat without the use of pepper spray. And once the woman was in custody, there was a sudden burst of loud applause from a group of senior citizens standing across the street. Apparently, they had all just witnessed the entire commotion. * No further details available at this time… P.S. – Today’s Hytown Vignette is a brought to you by Wes Montgomery… [CLICK IT/CRANK IT!
