Welcome to The Dirt ! I’m real estate reporter Kimberly Miller with the latest developments in the sizzling market.

We're going to get to real estate news in a second but first we have to discuss "toxic" clouds of manure dust . That's right, a lawsuit from a Wellington homeowner says she is suffering these alleged poop plumes wafting from her neighbor's business, which is owned by Matthew Bellissimo, son of the influential (practically Wellington royalty) Mark Bellissimo.

So, truthfully, it is a real estate story because you can't have polo moguls moving here to mega-wealthy ranches without horses and horses come with, well, lots of crap.

In other real estate news, Lake Park is considering replacing a dingy strip mall with shiny new apartments and it seems like a good trade, at least from the renderings. But there's the usual concerns — traffic, height, parking and what about Camilli's Pizza !?! Come on, there are serious consequences here, like where are people going to get their taco pizzas?

Also, coyotes are roaming West Palm Beach neighborhoods spreading fear and loathing, One Flagler has blockbuster new tenants and there was a bidding war over a house in Palm Beach that involved an arm wrestling competition and some minor bloodshed. (Not really, but that would be interesting.)

Poo smell is 'just part of life' in Wellington

Wellington homeowner Maria Aurora Rangel de Alba says she's sick of smelling manure emanating from Matthew Bellissimo's Agricultural Blending Co., but he said it's actually coming from her own property and, anyway, smelling manure is "just part of life" in Wellington says Bellissimo's lawyer.

Ew. Really? There's also some concern about "powdered manure" blowing around that's cutting into de Alba's rental income. Clouds of powdered manure? Just, no. This has all the makings of a Hallmark movie or, more likely, a true crime podcast.

Lake Park considers 16-story tower apartment complex

Lake Park has really gone all glamour shot on us in the past few years with Nautilus 220 rising like twin monoliths of progress with a beach entry pool. Now there's a proposed 16-story apartment complex that would include 595 units, a pool, outdoor terrace and lounge area, a fitness center and a Palm Tran bus stop along 10th Street. Score!

But, wait, no pickleball courts? Oh, the humanity!

Don't mind the coyotes but watch your cats

Folks who leave cat food out for strays or for their outdoor kitties should beware that they may also be feeding a more feral four-legged critter who may eat the cat along with the cat food. That's right, coyotes are a mainstay in South Florida.

In reporting this story, someone sent me a photo of half a cat they found near Dreher Park. That was unnecessary and now I can't unsee it, but I guess that's part of the gig. One day you're covering the physics of the ocean and atmosphere that combined to create the formidable Cat 5 Hurricane Beryl, and the next day you're looking at half a cat.

    Live lightly.
