Is your child due for a school or sports physical? Laurel Health is making back-to-school wellness a breeze with walk-in days for physicals this August.

On August 8th, 9th, 15th, or 16th, families can simply walk into the Wellsboro, Mansfield, or Troy Laurel Health Centers for a school physical.

Children of all ages are welcome. No appointments needed. The walk-in physicals are open to everyone; you do not need to be an established Laurel Health patient to utilize Laurel’s walk-in care services.

Walk-in hours for school physicals on August 8, 9, 15, and 16 are as follows:

Mansfield LHC: 7:30 am - 5pm, 416 South Main Street in Mansfield, PATroy LHC: 8 am - Noon, 45 Mud Creek Road in Troy, PAWellsboro LHC: 8 am - 4:30 pm, 7 Water Street in Wellsboro, PA

Physicals, also known as well child checks or well visits, play a key role in keeping children healthy and building a positive relationship with their family physician. Annual physicals allow healthcare providers to stay up to date on a child’s health and gives both parents and children a valuable opportunity to ask questions about their health and wellness.

School physicals are required for certain grades and to clear children to participate in gym class, intramural sports, after-school activities, and team sports. Make sure you add a school physical to your back-to-school checklist to avoid a delayed start or your child missing out on any fun.

A physical exam is an opportunity to update medication lists, review growth milestones, and identify any concerns early like signs of asthma or pre-diabetes so they can be effectively managed. This exam may include a variety of age-based health screenings like height & weight checks, immunizations, and hearing or vision screenings.

Healthcare providers can also share helpful tips for how to ease kids back into a school-year bedtime routine, tips for a balanced lunch, and how to adjust backpacks for a safe, comfortable fit.

Can’t attend a walk-in event but still need a physical? All Laurel Health Center locations are currently scheduling appointments for physicals and well visits. Early morning, late afternoon, and evening appointments are available throughout the week to better accommodate patient schedules.
