WELLSBURG, W.Va. (WTRF) Those coming in and out of Wellsburg are now greeted with brand new signs that highlight the city

The upgraded “Welcome to Wellsburg” signs are now donned with apples, fireworks, and rubber ducks as well as the name of current Mayor Daniel Dudley

This project was thanks to the money they raised from their recent Chicken Barbeque fundraiser!

President of the Wellsburg Kiwanis Club, Eric Fithyan says the former signs were decades old and with the new design they hope to share how welcoming and bright the community is!

“We incorporated three elements of Wellsburg. One, Grimes golden apple The Apple Fest and fireworks for our Wellsburg Fourth of July celebration and then our rubber ducks. Although this is a little out of our scope it also brightens the day for children. We’re proud of our heritage and what we do here.”

The signs are located at the North, South and Washington Pike entrances into the city.

The total cost to replace all three signs was more than $2,200
