WELLSTON – Troopers from the Jackson Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a single vehicle, non-injury crash that occurred on State Route 349, approximately one half of a mile north of State Route 93, in Jackson County at 9:06 a.m. on July 29th, 2024.

Jason Bailey, 43, of Bidwell, Ohio, was operating a 2013 International, refuse truck southbound on State Route 349 when it drove off of the right side of the roadway and overturned into a ditch, spilling waste water sludge into the ditch.

The Ohio Department of Transportation, Jackson County E.M.A., Jackson County Health Department, Wellston Police Department, and Wellston Fire Department all assisted on the scene.

State Route 349 was closed between State Route 93 and Wellston Park Road for approximately six hours while crews removed the vehicle and all of the spilled material. The crash remains under investigation.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol would like to remind motorists to never drive distracted and always wear their safety belt.
