Sheriff’s office investigating homicide

The Wake County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting death of a woman near Wendell as a homicide.

This shooting is now being investigated as a homicide.

WCSO reported July 1 that 24-year-old Serenity Spencer had passed away at the hospital.

“This is an ongoing investigation,” WCSO said in a press release. “Anyone with information that would assist in the investigation is asked to call WCSO at 919-856-6911.”

WCSO reported June 30 that it was investigating a shooting that had sent one person to the hospital.

June 30 around 10:40 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the 7000 block of Hodge Road, near Wendell. When they arrived, they located an adult female suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The woman, later identified as Spencer, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

“There is no additional information at this time,” WCSO stated in the press release.
