Man, 65, found dead on Bonneville Salt Flats

SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) — A 65-year-old man was found dead Friday on the Bonneville Salt Flats after officials say a relative reported him missing earlier in the day.

Sgt. David Bleazard with the Tooele County Sheriff’s Office told ABC4 that a Department of Public Safety helicopter located the man’s body around 12:30 p.m. It was miles away from the Bonneville Speedway.

A family member of the man, whose name has not been released, reported him missing around 9 a.m. While the death is under investigation, foul play is not suspected, Bleazard said.

Per the Bureau of Land Management , the Bonneville Salt Flats are a “30,000-acre expanse of hard, white salt crust” on the edge of the Great Salt Lake Basin in northwestern Utah.
