City of Revere Enhances Water Infrastructure to Improve Water Pressure and Fire Safety Citywide
REVERE, MA—In May, the City of Revere completed a $3 million rehabilitation of the water main infrastructure in the Oak Island neighborhood. The project was highlighted by installing two eight-inch water mains on Bridge Street, which replaced an aging six-inch pipe at risk of failure underneath the MBTA commuter rail tracks.
New Turf Project and Rumney Marsh Field Underway
REVERE, MA– Mayor Patrick M. Keefe Jr. and the City of Revere Parks and Recreation Department are pleased to announce the commencement of the replacement of the artificial turf at Rumney Marsh Academy. This project, representing a half-million-dollar investment, began on August 20, 2024, and is expected to be completed within two and a half weeks. The new turf installation is a yet another step forward in enhancing the quality and safety of recreational areas, parks, and open space in Revere.

FYSOP Looks to Expand the Horizons of Incoming First-Years
Over three days, students will prepare Boston’s Mather and Condon Schools for the upcoming school year and get a feel for campus life. While their classmates are doing last-minute back-to-school shopping and packing up to head to campus, approximately 400 freshmen and new transfer students will arrive on campus August 28 to participate in the University’s First-Year Student Outreach Project (FYSOP). Now in its 35th year, the three-day program sends students on service-based activities across Boston and is centered around the pillars of service, education, and reflection. It is organized by BU’s Community Service Center (CSC) and is staffed by 80 volunteers, many of them previous participants.
