WATERTOWN, S.D.(KXLG)- The Associated School Boards of South Dakota recently announced there were 353 teacher positions open in July in the state. That is a significant increase from last year at this time, when there were 256 openings, nearly 100 fewer than this year. In 2022, there were 225 openings.

High School sports seasons start soon
With the calendar turning to August we are now just a few weeks away from the start of the Fall High School sports season in South Dakota. Schools competing in girls tennis can start practice this coming Monday, August 5th. 9-man and 11B football teams will start practice on August 8th, with all other schools opening practice on August 12. Boys golf practice starts August 12 as well, with cross country and Volleyball following on the 15th.
