WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A Long Island man crashed his SUV into a house in West Babylon early Sunday morning, causing himself injury and sending the residents to the hospital.

Suffolk County Police said that Cristian Banega-Salmendares, 27, was driving southbound on Great East Neck Road in a 2023 Dodge SUV, past Crocus Court, when he lost control of his vehicle at about 12:30 a.m.

He veered off the roadway and struck a low concrete wall, at which point his vehicle flipped into the air and crashed into 128 Great East Neck Road.

Married couple Anna and Michael Baptise, 46 and 45, live at the residence and were transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Banega-Salmendares, who also lives in West Babylon, was taken to the same hospital in similar condition.

The fire marshal and building inspector were called to the scene to assess if the home suffered structural damage.
