    ‘Profound sadness:’ West Carrollton mourns loss of ex-mayor

    DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The city of West Carrollton is remembering its longtime former mayor.

    Jeff Sanner, 68, of West Carrollton, has died, according to the city of West Carrollton.

    Sanner began serving the city in public office as a councilmember on Jan. 26, 1988. He then served as mayor from Jan. 1, 2008 to Dec. 31, 2023.

    West Carrollton Mayor Rick Barnhart released a statement saying his predecessor was a staple to the community.

    Today, we mourn the loss of Jeff Sanner, our former Mayor whose 35 years of dedicated service shaped the City of West Carrollton. Jeff was a pillar of our community whose leadership and vision set a strong foundation for our city’s growth and development. His legacy will continue to be an inspiration to us all. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and loved ones during this great time of loss.”

    West Carrollton’s city manager, Amber Holloway, says Sanner has left an impact on the region.

    Sanner was also the owner of Sanner Funeral Home in West Carrollton.
