A WALMART store is set to close in weeks after bosses revealed the outlet is underperforming.

The supermarket in West Covina, California – located around 20 miles from Los Angeles – will shut up shop on March 29.

It had been a staple in the area for over a decade after opening in 2012.

Chiefs revealed the decision wasn’t taken lightly and workers were told about the closure on February 26, per The San Gabriel Valley Tribune.

Bosses revealed that some stores do not meet financial expectations.

The decision to close the supercenter was taken after a thoughtful review, per KTLA.

Shoppers lamented the closure online as they couldn’t understand the reason behind the shutdown.

The store has more than 230 staffers and the retailer confirmed they will be able to move to other sites.

Workers will be paid until May 31 and those who do not move to another store will be in line to get severance pay.

There is a Walmart supermarket less than four miles from the closing-down store, a spokesperson told The San Gabriel Valley Tribune.

Walmart said it was grateful to the supermarket’s customers over the years.

It’s not yet known what retailer will move into the space left by Walmart once the supermarket closes.

Customers will be able to shop at 16 other supermarkets in the area.

News of the closure comes just weeks after Walmart closed two stores in San Diego County.

The stores in El Cajon and Sherman Heights closed for good on February 9.

Bosses revealed the stores closed because they were underperforming but didn’t say what factor sparked the shutdowns.

A Walmart store in Columbus, Ohio, closed on February 16.

The recent shutdowns come just a year after Walmart closed a raft of stores across several states in 2023.

Chiefs shuttered 24 stores across 14 states and Washington, DC.

"These stores lose tens of millions of dollars a year, and their annual losses nearly doubled in just the last five years," execs said.

I use to work at that Walmart overnight stocking and so many people would steal from there especially in the morning when we open . I caught a few and reported to a lead they didn’t do shit. They only seem to care about employees stealing.
