The struggle continues for many food franchises as a company that owns many Pizza Hut locations in Illinois has reportedly filed for bankruptcy. Nation's Restaurant News reported today that EYM Pizza L.P. has filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the eastern district of Texas Monday. They said this pizza company "operates units in the South and Midwest". According to their corporate site, that includes Pizza Hut locations in Illinois.

Consumer Advocates Attend Boilingbrook Public Forum to Speak out Against Illinois American Water’s $152 Million Rate-Hike Request (Boilingbrook, IL) – AARP Illinois and the Citizens Utility Board (CUB) on Monday urged state regulators to reject Illinois American Water’s proposed $152 million rate-hike request at an Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) public forum in Bolingbrook. DuPage County Offers Veterans Resource Fair
DuPage County recently announced their Veterans Resource Fair, which will be held Wednesday, August 21, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the first floor auditorium of the JTK Administration Building at 421 N. County Farm Road in Wheaton. The event, which is hosted by the DuPage County Recorder and the Veterans Assistance Commission of DuPage County, invites veterans and their families to attend. More than 80 service agencies and community organizations will be in attendance to offer information and assistance to veterans. Attendees are invited to enjoy refreshments and win door prizes as they receive information about programs designed to serve veterans and their families. Sturgeon Bay man injured in Friday crash
An Arlington Heights, Ill. man was cited for driving without a valid license and failing to yield to the right of way from a stop sign after he struck another vehicle with his passenger van last Friday afternoon in the Town of Sturgeon Bay. Shortly before 4:10 p.m., a Sturgeon Bay man was driving southbound on County Highway U when the passenger van driven by the Illinois man pulled out in front of him at the Silverdale Road intersection. The impact of the collision sent both vehicles into a nearby yard, with the passenger van going towards a tree on the property. According to the accident report, the deputy on the scene could smell alcohol on the breath of the Illinois man but did not see enough through the field sobriety test to add an Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) citation. The Sturgeon Bay man suffered a possible injury from the crash, but he was treated on scene.

Invenergy Announces $30M Center of Excellence Focused on Training and Manufacturing
Invenergy, the leading privately held developer, owner, and operator of sustainable energy solutions, today announced it has broken ground on its Center of Excellence (CoE), a $30 million clean energy training and manufacturing facility located at 790 Remington Boulevard in Bolingbrook, Illinois, about 30 miles outside Chicago. The new facility will span 135,000 sq. ft. and is anticipated to open in the fourth quarter of 2024 following the buildout of the existing site which will employ over 250 local construction workers.

A death investigation is underway after a man was found shot to death Monday night near a home in unincorporated Lombard, according to authorities. According to the DuPage County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded at approximately 9:30 p.m. Monday night to the intersection of 16th Street and Meyers Road for reports of a shooting.
