Christmas in July will be taking place at the Howard County Fairgrounds this weekend.

The event will feature more than 200 vendors selling clothing, jewelry and pottery as well as crafts, face painting, and food. Entertainment will come in the form of live music, a petting zoo and a visit from Santa.

April Kluever, 42, of Arcane Pastimes in Jessup, will be selling her products at the craft show. Specializing in traditional and unique clothing, jewelry and toys inspired by fantasy, horror and science fiction, she will be selling scarves, shawls and steampunk dolls.

Kluever said she hopes her products will bring visitors holiday cheer this summer.

“There’s a special time when people will come up and they’ll see a handmade item that I have and their eyes light up and they get really excited about it,” she said. “I’m hoping people seeing all of the festivities, either through my own colorful items that I’m going to put up or all of the other stuff that the vendors have put up, will feel that moment of Christmas even though we’re still six months away.”

Christmas in July takes place at the Howard County Fairgrounds, 2210 Fairgrounds Road in West Friendship, Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Admission is $5 for adults and free for children ages 12 and younger.
