Educators offer tips to help students improve in phonics
Learning to read can be a struggle. Especially for kids entering the school system during and post the COVID19 pandemic. Assistant Superintendent of Mermudian Springs School District Shannon Myers, Ed.D. and Assistant Principal of Steelton-Highspire Elementary School Elayne Thomas joined the Spark to discuss why early literacy is so important. Both educators stressed the importance of phonics and literacy beginning at home before the start of kindergarten to give young students a head start.
Maddie & Tae coming back to Pa.: Where to buy tickets to their 2 Pa. concerts

A funeral will begin at 3 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 1, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Rd., Annville. Bears Extend Calder Cup Hero Strome
The Hershey Bears announced on Wednesday that the team has signed forward Matt Strome to a two-year AHL contract. Strome was responsible for scoring the Calder Cup winning goal in Game Six versus Coachella Valley. His return further bolsters a deep Hershey roster at forward and retains a key piece of the team’s identity. The signing was made official one month after Strome’s goal in a key moment in team history. Hershey’s Vice President of Hockey Operations, Bryan Helmer, announced the signing.
