Volunteer firefighter’s family home destroyed in Dauphin County blaze
A Dauphin County volunteer firefighter’s family lost their home, all of their belongings and two pets in a Tuesday blaze, the department said. Steelton firefighters were dispatched to a Tuesday afternoon fire on the 400 block of Penn Street in Bressler, Swatara Township. They soon discovered the home belonged to one of their volunteer’s mothers, Stephen Brubacher, Steelton’s interim fire chief, wrote on Facebook.

Cellmate charged with murder in man’s death at Camp Hill prison
A 30-year-old incarcerated man was charged with murder in connection to the death of a 57-year-old man at SCI Camp Hill on Tuesday, Pennsylvania State Police announced. Kevin Beattie, 57, of Philadelphia, was found unresponsive in his cell and pronounced dead at 8:16 a.m., according to the Department of Corrections. A press release from state police said Beattie’s cellmate at the time of his death was Shaquille T. Gibson, 30, of York, who was charged with murder following an investigation.

Police: Baltimore woman robbed two victims inside their New Cumberland motel room
YORK COUNTY, Pa. — A Baltimore woman is facing charges after allegedly robbing two people inside their motel room. According to the Fairview Township Police Department, Patricia Monet Gilmer, 33, entered a motel room off Limekiln Road in New Cumberland without permission on June 7 at 9:38 p.m. She allegedly threatened two people inside the room, claiming she had a firearm, stole their purses and fled the area.

Two inmates dies at SCI Camp Hill within 24 hours
CAMP HILL, Pa. (WHTM) – The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections says a second SCI Camp Hill inmate died hours before after another inmate was killed. Inmate Bryan Conrad, 50, was found unresponsive in his cell on July 1 and pronounced deceased at 3 p.m. despite life-saving measures. Conrad was serving a 4 to 8-year sentence for Failure to Comply with Registration of Sexual Offenders Requirements. He had been at SCI Camp Hill since April 6, 2023.
