Sex Offender Bryan Wayne Conrad Dies In PA Prison
Bryan Wayne Conrad of Mechanicsburg died at 3 p.m. on July 1, 2024, Superintendent Gourley explained in the release. Conrad "was found unresponsive in his cell [...] Prison staff immediately responded and provided life-saving measures until facility medical personnel arrived. Lower Allen EMS arrived and advanced life support measures were continued" until he was pronounced dead, Gourley stated in the release.

Led by Carlisle’s three selections, four Sentinel-area players were named 2024 Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association All-State honorees Friday. Thundering Herd senior Jacob Heckman headlined the local contingent with a Class 3A second-team nod while teammates Wyatt Colestock and Dom Kole were recognized as honorable mentions. Cumberland Valley junior Avery Reynolds also earned honorable-mention distinction.

Clarence F. “Butt” Stone, 80, of Enola, Pa., formerly of Canton and Ogdensburg, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, in Harrisburg. Clarence Francis was born November 25, 1943, in Canton, a son of the late Francis and Laura (Carl) Stone. He attended Canton area schools and was a graduate of the class of 1961. In 1962 Clarence proudly joined the United States Army where he served his country until his honorable discharge in 1967. On July 16, 1965, Clarence married his soulmate, the former Barbara Kennedy, in the Ogdensburg Church of Christ. Together they shared 59 years of loving marriage and raised 2 children. Later in life, he went on to Penn College where he earned his Auto Body Technician degree. Clarence was employed at Sylvania in Montoursville, Pa for 25 years until his retirement.

Maxine R. Heckmon, 101
Maxine R. Heckmon, 101, of Mt. Holly Springs, PA, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2024 at home. Born November 17, 1922 in Hollenberg, KS, she was the daughter of the late Fredrick and Nina (Hall) Oswald. After moving to Wichita, KS, she met and married Raymond Heckmon who was stationed there in the U.S. Army during World War II. They were married in October, 1944. She was preceded in death by her late husband Raymond D. Heckmon, who was a life-long dairy farmer. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary prior to his passing in 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Gary D. Heckmon, one brother, Donald Oswald and three sisters, Eldeen (Oswald) Brown, Wilma (Oswald) Allerheiligan and Dorothy (Oswald) Borud.

Mega warehouse developer seeks extension from Dover Township supervisors
It will be months before Dover Township supervisors review a mega warehouse proposal now that the developer is seeking an extension. Worldwide real estate conglomerate Hines wants to show its 200-acre warehouse campus plans to the township’s Board of Supervisors for review on Oct. 28, according to a post on Dover Township’s website.
