World of Outlaws Set for Three Pennsylvania Races, 2024’s Lone New York Stop
The summer stretch continues with another busy week of action for the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars. First, Sprint Car racing’s fiercest rivalry resumes with three races over four nights in Pennsylvania where the Posse awaits. Then, it’s north to New York for the season’s one visit to the “Empire State.”

Donald B. Weidman, age 85, of Mount Joy, entered into eternal rest on Sunday July 21, 2024, at Harrisburg Hospital after a brief illness. Many people knew him by his nickname Sam. He was born on March 7, 1939, to the late Harlan and Susan Weidman. He was the youngest of 10 siblings. He was the loving husband of Dorothy N. Mylin Weidman, whom he married October 8, 1960. They shared 63 years of marriage together.

Pine Grove Scout earns Eagle Scout
St. Paul United Methodist Church in Pine Grove held Eagle Scout Court to honor Collin Russell John Adams of Troop 650 of Pine Grove. Collin is the son of Trisha Wagner and Christopher Adams. He removed, repaired and enhanced the Tremont Area Free Public Library book return area for his service project. Collin received help from scoutmaster and scouts as well as Justin Renninger Metal Works, Gary’s Auto Body and others. He is a 12-year scout who regularly volunteers at the Tremont Food Pantry. A 2024 graduate of Pine Grove Area, Collin served as vice president of the National Honor Society and was a member of many other clubs. Collins plans to attend college and obtain a degree in orthotics and prosthetics and work in the prothesis field. St. Marys Little Leaguers fall to North Lebanon in extras, 3-0

Happy 100th!
Richard Weaver, born and raised in Bonneauville, turned 100 years old today, July 25. He is the third of 13 children. Weaver enlisted in the Army in 1944 with the 17th Airborne Division known as “The Golden Talons,” receiving his parachute and glider badges. During World War II, he fought in the Battle of the Bulge, where he was wounded, and Operation Varsity, receiving accommodations and medals for his bravery. He returned home to his sweetheart, Jeanne, in 1946. They married soon after, together raising 11 children; they celebrated for 66 years together. Weaver became a master plasterer. In 1978, he was invited to be part of the first class offered by the Diocese of Harrisburg for a lay person to become a deacon. For almost 40 years, Deacon Weaver, as he is known, assisted the priests at St. Joseph the Worker in Bonneauville, as well as going throughout the county, visiting many nursing homes, prisons, shut-ins and hospitals to minister, provided support, communion and comfort. Weaver said he is blessed and honored to have been able to touch so many people’s lives but most importantly how many lives touched him. The family will celebrate his 100th birthday at the Deacon Richard Weaver community center with the mayor and the Borough of Bonneauville presenting him a proclamation noting July 25 as Richard J. Florida woman dies in five-car pileup on Interstate 81 near Pine Grove
A Florida woman suffered fatal injuries Tuesday in an accident on Interstate 81 in Pine Grove Twp. State police at Jonestown reported that Jennifer L. Perez-Wolfkeil, 66, of Niceville, Florida, died in a crash around 4 p.m. that involved five vehicles on the northbound lanes of I-81 near mile marker 98.3.
