Donald B. Weidman
Donald B. Weidman, age 85, of Mount Joy, entered into eternal rest on Sunday July 21, 2024, at Harrisburg Hospital after a brief illness. Many people knew him by his nickname Sam. He was born on March 7, 1939, to the late Harlan and Susan Weidman. He was the youngest of 10 siblings. He was the loving husband of Dorothy N. Mylin Weidman, whom he married October 8, 1960. They shared 63 years of marriage together.

Cedar Crest beats Elizabethtown to advance to LNP 14U Tournament championship game
Cedar Crest fell flat with a chance to advance to the LNP 14U Tournament title game last season. That didn’t happen this year. Facing No. 4 seed Elizabethtown in an elimination game Wednesday night at Kunkle Field in Mount Joy, No. 3 seed Cedar Crest earned a 3-0 win behind dominance from starting pitcher Chase Norris.
Clarence Boyd Tournament Highlights
The Newville Little League 7 & 8-year-old All-Stars recently competed in the Pennsylvania District 14 Clarence Boyd tournament held in Carlisle from July 10 through July 19. The team finished with a 1-3 record with losses to Greencastle (8-7), Shippensburg (7-3), and Carlisle (7-6), before closing out the tournament with an 8-6 win over South Middleton. Even in the losses, the team was extremely competitive and were able to further develop their skills and knowledge of the game.

Pine Grove Scout earns Eagle Scout
St. Paul United Methodist Church in Pine Grove held Eagle Scout Court to honor Collin Russell John Adams of Troop 650 of Pine Grove. Collin is the son of Trisha Wagner and Christopher Adams. He removed, repaired and enhanced the Tremont Area Free Public Library book return area for his service project. Collin received help from scoutmaster and scouts as well as Justin Renninger Metal Works, Gary’s Auto Body and others. He is a 12-year scout who regularly volunteers at the Tremont Food Pantry. A 2024 graduate of Pine Grove Area, Collin served as vice president of the National Honor Society and was a member of many other clubs. Collins plans to attend college and obtain a degree in orthotics and prosthetics and work in the prothesis field.
