WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A high school graduate from West Hartford is now a “Jimmy Awards” finalist.

The awards celebrates the best high school musical theater talent in the country. 17-year-old James Thibault, a recent Conard High School graduate, said that becoming a finalist was surreal.

“It was wild,” Thibault said. “I was standing there and just hoping I would hear my name and then I did. I feel so lucky.”

Many consider the Jimmy Awards show to be where future Broadway stars are born. Thibault will attend Wagner College in Staten Island, New York in the fall to study theater performance and mathematics.
