Utah RFA defenseman Victor Soderstrom is switching representation as he tries to land a contract for next season. PHNX Sports’ Craig Morgan reports he’s dropped his agent, which PuckPedia shows was Darren Ferris at Quartexx Management. Morgan also reports that Söderström, whom the Coyotes drafted with the 11th overall pick in 2019, may opt to play in a top-level European pro league this season rather than re-sign with Utah.

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Utah Hockey Club signed forward Cole Beaudoin to an entry-level contract as their 24th overall pick for the first round of the 2024 NHL draft. Beaudoin, 6’2” and 206 lbs, comes to Utah from the Barrie Colts, a junior team in Ontario. He recorded 28-34-62 in 67 games during the 2023-24 season, ranking second on the Colts in assists and third in goals and points.

There's a common rule in high school and college sports that most coaches follow. Tie goes to the senior. If two players are pretty much the same in talent, and one of them is a senior, you give the starting spot to the senior. They've been in the program longer, they've sacrificed more, they're probably more respected in the locker room, and have sold more candy bars for fundraisers to get new uniforms etc. However, if it's not a tie you go with the better player regardless of age.
