Purdue raised $76.5 million in this year's Day of Giving, an annual 24-hour event where the university rallies donations to various departments, colleges and student organizations.

This year's round saw 32,054 donations, breaking the record set by the 2023 Day of Giving and bringing the cumuluative total since the program's 2014 launch to $497 million, according to a Purdue press release.

“As we celebrate the culmination of yet another remarkable Purdue Day of Giving, we are ever grateful for the extraordinary generosity of Boilermakers around the globe,” President Mung Chiang said.

Day of Giving encompasses all of the university’s campuses— West Lafayette, Purdue Fort Wayne and Purdue Northwest— as well as Purdue Global. All gifts are donor-directed, which means donors are able to choose the areas and initiatives that receive their support, the press release says.

This year's donations included a a $10 million gift to the Department of Chemistry, a $500,000 gift to the College of Liberal Arts and School of Mechanical Engineering and a $250,000 gift to Purdue Athletics in support of swim and dive scholarships.
