Herman Sekne became the first Boilermaker in 17 years to win the Les Bolstad Award.

The Big Ten award goes to the men's golfer with the lowest stroke average of the season. The senior Oslo native averaged 70.27 strokes this season.

“Obviously, Herman winning the Bolstead Award is huge for him and shows the kind of year he has had this season," men's golf head coach Rob Bradley said. "He’s been so consistent all season, and we’re looking forward to seeing what he can do at Regionals."

Sekne finished within the top five at 7-over par 217 (73-72-72) at the Big Ten Championships over the weekend at the Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio.

The No. 28 Boilers finished third overall at the conference championships with a total of 46-over par 886 (288-301-297) in 54 holes behind Northwestern and Illinois.

Next for Purdue are the NCAA Regionals at home on the Kampen-Cosler Course May 13-15.
