UPDATE: Power has been restored at approximately 10 p.m. to a near-campus area that impacted 692 Duke Energy customers on Wednesday night.

    Earlier Coverage:

Power has gone out for 692 locations in an area near Northwestern Avenue, extending onto West Stadium Avenue and Salisbury Street, according to a Duke Energy outage map.

The loss of electricity is related to a traffic accident that happened around 4:30 p.m., Wednesday. Two vehicles were involved in an accident at the intersection of West Stadium Avenue and Vine Street. Once Duke staff reached the location, they cut off power around 8 p.m. to replace a power pole.

Power disabled traffic lights at Northwestern Avenue and North Grant Street. A West Lafayette firefighter said he expected power to be restored in "no later than two hours."
