    • Grant Beerman is a 6-4, 220-pound linebacker from Lakota West High School in West Chester, Ohio.
    • Beerman is a 3-star prospect ranked No. 421 in the 247 Sports national composite.
    • Beerman is the second defensive commitment from Ohio in as many days, joining cornerback Dawayne Galloway.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Purdue football continues to find potential impact defensive players for its 2025 class one state to the east.

West Chester (Ohio) Lakota West linebacker Grant Beerman committed to the Boilermakers on Saturday morning. The 6-4, 220-pound, three-star prospect is ranked No. 421 in the 247 Sports composite for the 2025 class.

Beerman's commitment came one day after Columbus Marion-Franklin cornerback Dawayne Galloway made his commitment. Galloway and Beerman are now the two highest-ranked players in that 2025 recruiting class.

That brings the total defensive commitments from Ohio players to three in this class. Cincinnati Taft defensive lineman Drayden Pavey was the first. Akron East running back Ziaire Stevens also has committed.

    What Grant Beerman's recruitment means

Cincinnati, Michigan State and West Virginia were among the other programs Beerman reportedly saw on official visits. As a junior he collected 79 tackles (12 for loss), four sacks, two forced fumbles and two pass breakups.

Linebacker loomed as a position of real need. Senior Kydran Jenkins and junior Yanni Karfaltis will soon complete their careers. The only true freshmen linebackers on the roster are preferred walk-ons Cooper Kitchel and Landon Drennan.

Beerman also projects as the highest-ranked commit at the position since Karlaftis in 2021. He's considered an intelligent player and also has a track sprinting background. Purdue may need him to make a relatively quick impact in the middle of the defense.

    Where Purdue's 2025 class stands

Beerman is the 12th known commitment to the 2025 class, Prior to the last 48 hours, only two of those commits played on defense.

More importantly, some momentum is building in the perceived quality of those prospects. The top four ranked players in the class -- Galloway, Beerman, tight end Brian Kortovich and offensive lineman Cameron Gorin -- have all committed since the beginning of June.

That talent infusion could help this group climb out of the bottom spot in the Big Ten in the 2025 composite team rankings.
