Purdue has added another piece to its 2025 recruiting class, gaining a commitment from inside linebacker Grant Beerman on Saturday.

“There is a lot to like about Purdue,” said Beerman. “As a Big Ten school, they will be playing big games each week and have a chance to take on some of the best teams in college football, with a legit chance to win as the program comes together. I really like the culture that Coach (Ryan) Walters is putting together and I believe I can make an impact in the defensive scheme. Purdue is also a great school with a great history and a great opportunity for a great education.”

Beerman is the 12th commitment in the class for Purdue and first inside linebacker, selecting the Boilermakers over Michigan State, West Virginia and Cincinnati. He was on campus for an official visit June 7-9.

Beerman is a product from Lakota West High in West Chester, Ohio–about 30 minutes north of Cincinnati. What is it about him that Beerman thinks appeals to Boilermaker defensive coordinator Kevin Kane?

“I think he likes that I am versatile, that I can play off the edge,” said Beerman. “I can also play in the middle, so you can move me around and that allows me to be an asset to the defense and allows me to play different positions where I’m needed.”

The 6-4, 215-pound Beerman has been to Purdue numerous times, including a trip to last year’s game vs. Syracuse. He earned a Purdue offer while attending a camp in West Lafayette in June 2023.

How does Beerman describe his skill set?

“There are a couple of different types linebackers,” said Beerman. “There are some that are beefy and like to just hit everything. And I like to hit, but I’m more versatile. I’m fast. I’m have length. I can run sideline-to-sideline. So, I think I’m a versatile linebacker. I can play outside and play inside.”
