“I have enjoyed each position held at the library over the years. Each step of the way has offered professional training opportunities, college classes, professional library organization networking and outstanding mentors and coworkers,” Schweitzer-Smith said in a press release.

She was a member of the Ohio Library Council for more than 20 years, serving on the council's Small Libraries Division and Management. She also earned a Certified Public Library Staff certification and attended Belmont Technical College for staff development.

“I have been a lifelong learner and have enjoyed learning technology, teaching patron computer classes, and individual technology trainings over the years,” Schweitzer-Smith said in a news release.

She has been involved in many community organizations over the years, earning her awards and accomplishments for her service. She served as board chair and fundraising chair for the local American Red Cross, marketing chair for Wings Over Coshocton air shows and secretary for the Coshocton Airport Amphitheater board. She also served on the board for Coshocton County Developmental Disabilities, was a graduate of Leadership Coshocton County and worked as the group's board chair and curriculum coordinator.

She was awarded the Young Careerist of the Year in Ohio Region 10 by the Business and Professional Women’s Organization and the Community Improvement Award by the Coshocton County Chamber of Commerce. She was honored as teacher of the year for her work in children’s ministry at the Coshocton Nazarene Church.

Recently, Schweitzer-Smith was selected to serve on the West Lafayette Revitalization Committee and was named grand marshal of the 76th annual West Lafayette Homecoming Parade.

An open house for her retirement will be from 4 to 6 p.m. July 29 at the branch library with refreshments provided by Friends of the Library.
