The West Linn boys wrestling team continued an impressive winter last Saturday, taking first-place as a team at the 2024 Three Rivers League District Championships at Lakeridge High School.

The Lions ultimately produced six individual first-place finishers and a whopping 21 podium finishers, tallying 419.5 points to take the team title. Meanwhile, Oregon City took second while Lakeridge and Lake Oswego finished fifth and sixth, respectively.

In the 120-pound weight class, West Linn claimed the top two spots, with senior Colby Cook defeating his teammate, junior Nate Gusdorf, in the first-place match with a fall in 3:16.

At 132, sophomore Ryder Sprague took the league crown for the Lions, topping Lakeridge’s Nolan Opferman in the first-place match with a fall in 3:03.

Meanwhile, at 138, West Linn earned another one-two finish, as junior Oscar Doces defeated teammate Maclain Culp in an 8-3 decision to take first place.

At 150, freshman phenom Mason Carnrite earned an 8-0, major decision victory over Tigard’s Cody McLay to take the crown, while at 157, senior Henry Dillingham continued his dominant campaign with a 5:21 fall in the first-place match over Oregon City’s Mitchell Johnson.

Furthermore, the Lions had another one-two finish at 165, as senior Charles Spinning took the crown after his teammate Lucas Gray forfeited the title match.

Still, it wasn’t just first-place finishers that contributed points for West Linn on Saturday.

At 106, sophomore Romeo Daly took second and freshman Max Bell took third, while at 113, freshman Johnny Novelo took fourth.

At 126, junior Tripp Moussavi took second and fellow junior Ryan Muzii took fifth, while at 132, sophomore Brayson Roethler backed Sprague with a fifth-place finish.

At 144, senior George Kovchegov finished second and sophomore Magnes Lavadour took fifth, while at 150, sophomore Koen Aguirre backed Carnrite with a fourth-place finish.

Sophomore Jacob Walker backed Dillingham at 157 with a fourth-place finish, while at 175, senior Jansen Kouame took second to Lakeridge’s Alex Sly.

Sly, who took the title with a 12-2 major decision victory, was the lone first-place finisher for the Pacers, while Lake Oswego’s Lusiano Lopez was the only Laker to take the title, finishing first at 215.
