Recent contract negotiations between the West Linn-Wilsonville School District and the West Linn-Wilsonville Education Association resulted in important changes to the 2024-25 school year calendar. The

The changes were formally approved by the school board during its Monday, July 8 meeting.

These changes allow for more full-day professional development for teachers and better align the primary, middle and high school calendars, according to a message from the district on ParentSquare on Tuesday, July 9.

With no more early release Wednesdays, the district will add six full professional development days for primary students and two full development days for middle and high school students.

The professional development days will fall on Mondays and Fridays and often align with existing holidays to better accommodate district families' childcare and transportation needs.

“As a parent of a soon-to-be middle schooler, I feel like my life is highly impacted by the school calendar,” said board member Maegan Vidal during the board meeting. “I'm just in full support of these changes.”

The calendar changes will also impact spring conference days for elementary school students, pending an approval vote by WWEA members in August. The last day of school is also adjusted for elementary students, shifting earlier to June 6, while middle and high school students remain in class until June 9.

The updated school calendars are now available on the school district’s website at https://www.wlwv.k12.or.us/domain/90.
