    West Linn girls cross country

    Coach: Emma McCurry

2023 results: Fifth at the Three Rivers League district meet

2024 team: Junior Violet Gowdy (23rd at the 2023 TRL district meet), senior Campbell Noce (24th at district), junior Lauren Burnett (37th at district), senior Claire Sousley, sophomore Lucia Decamps, freshman Lauren McKinley, freshman Sienna Reeder, freshman Eleanor Wyatt.

2024 outlook: The Lions believe they can compete for a berth at the Class 6A state meet.

“We are excited to improve upon our fifth-place finish last year at (the Three Rivers League district meet),” said West Linn coach Emma McCurry. “I am hopeful that we will be in contention for a place at state, whether that be as an automatic-qualifier or as a wild-card pick.”

Team leaders: Campbell Noce, Claire Sousley and Violet Gowdy bring leadership and experience that should pay solid dividends in the 2024 fall season.

“Campbell Noce continues to be a leader on our team via their consistent, smart training style,” McCurry said. “Claire Sousley does a tremendous job preparing team bonding activities with the help of her teammates (and) Violet Gowdy is focusing on helping recruit more athletes for our team.”

2024 TRL Contenders: McCurry said that reigning league champion Lakeridge should once again be favored in the 2024 season.
