Donald B. Weidman, age 85, of Mount Joy, entered into eternal rest on Sunday July 21, 2024, at Harrisburg Hospital after a brief illness. Many people knew him by his nickname Sam. He was born on March 7, 1939, to the late Harlan and Susan Weidman. He was the youngest of 10 siblings. He was the loving husband of Dorothy N. Mylin Weidman, whom he married October 8, 1960. They shared 63 years of marriage together.
Woman dies Wednesday night in Rapho Township house fire: coroner
A 66-year-old woman died Wednesday night after emergency crews pulled her from her burning home in Rapho Township, according to the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office. Beth Yanni, of 2652 Lebanon Road, was pronounced dead at Lancaster General Hospital after firefighters rescued her from her single-family home on Route 72 across from the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire grounds around 8:30 p.m.

Clarence Boyd Tournament Highlights
The Newville Little League 7 & 8-year-old All-Stars recently competed in the Pennsylvania District 14 Clarence Boyd tournament held in Carlisle from July 10 through July 19. The team finished with a 1-3 record with losses to Greencastle (8-7), Shippensburg (7-3), and Carlisle (7-6), before closing out the tournament with an 8-6 win over South Middleton. Even in the losses, the team was extremely competitive and were able to further develop their skills and knowledge of the game.
The Scarlet Willow to close vintage shop in Lancaster city
The Scarlet Willow, an antiques and vintage shop in Lancaster city, will be closing in early September. The last day for the 320 N. Queen St. shop will be Sept. 7. “There are a million reasons this is happening, but mostly because it’s just time,” owner Jodi Pabon wrote in a post on the store’s Facebook page. “We will be closing on our 13th birthday, and even though it’s been an amazing run, 13 years is a long time and our whole family is ready for something new, like weekends and holidays together!”
