Tractor-trailer crash backing up I-81 traffic in Dauphin County
A Wednesday afternoon crash involving several tractor-trailers has created a backlog of traffic on Interstate 81 near Harrisburg, PennDOT said. The left southbound lane of I-81 is closed as of 2 p.m. at exit 66 to downtown Harrisburg/Front Street, according to PennDOT spokeswoman Fritzi Schreffler. Southbound traffic is slow-moving, she said, but getting by on the right lane.

Trooper shot while serving warrant in Lancaster County, state police say
A Pennsylvania State Police trooper was shot Wednesday morning while serving a warrant in Lancaster, authorities said. The state police corporal, who is on the Special Emergency Response Team, was shot in the arm at about 6:19 a.m. on the 600 block of East Fulton Street, according to state police.

Amtrak starts phase 4 of track renewal project in central Pa.
Amtrak started the fourth phase of its track renewal on the Harrisburg line Wednesday, marking the project’s halfway point, the company announced. The work on the Harrisburg line, which started in March, is part of a $122 million project between Harrisburg and Lancaster. Projects of this caliber would typically take around two years, but Amtrak is using a combination of single and full track outages to improve efficiency, according to a press release.
