Pa. state trooper shot in Lancaster city Wednesday morning
A Pennsylvania State Police trooper was shot Wednesday morning while trying to serve a warrant in Lancaster city, according to police. Troopers from Lancaster County’s Troop J were on the 600 block of East Fulton Street at 6:19 a.m. when someone opened fire and shot an unidentified corporal in the arm, according to a press release from state police. Police arrested the gunman and took him into custody but have not released his name yet.
The Scarlet Willow to close vintage shop in Lancaster city
The Scarlet Willow, an antiques and vintage shop in Lancaster city, will be closing in early September. The last day for the 320 N. Queen St. shop will be Sept. 7. “There are a million reasons this is happening, but mostly because it’s just time,” owner Jodi Pabon wrote in a post on the store’s Facebook page. “We will be closing on our 13th birthday, and even though it’s been an amazing run, 13 years is a long time and our whole family is ready for something new, like weekends and holidays together!”
Clarence Boyd Tournament Highlights
The Newville Little League 7 & 8-year-old All-Stars recently competed in the Pennsylvania District 14 Clarence Boyd tournament held in Carlisle from July 10 through July 19. The team finished with a 1-3 record with losses to Greencastle (8-7), Shippensburg (7-3), and Carlisle (7-6), before closing out the tournament with an 8-6 win over South Middleton. Even in the losses, the team was extremely competitive and were able to further develop their skills and knowledge of the game.
Two men charged in connection to theft from Adams County car dealership
Two men from Maryland have been charged by police in connection to the thefts of two cars from a dealership in Gettysburg in April. Jefferson Ventura, 18, and London Flores, 19, both of Silver Spring, Maryland, face felony charges of theft, burglary and criminal mischief related to the April 26, 2024 theft of two vehicles from the showroom of Renn Kirby Chevrolet in Straban Township.
