Miamians can expect to often be reaching for their umbrellas this week, as a series of showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast nearly every day. According to the National Weather Service, the city will see a "50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms" today, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 89 degrees. The humidity, a staunch companion to the region's heat, will push the heat index values to as high as 100.

For the Fourth of July festivities, South Florida will enjoy a mainly dry day with just the chance for an isolated shower in the morning and highs in the low 90s.Friday through Saturday will maintain lower chances for rain before rain chances begin to creep back up Sunday into early next week.
