Does the political unrest and the assassination attempt have you stressed? A recent poll by the American Psychiatric Association found that nearly three fourths of respondents are. NBC 10’s Joel Massey spoke with some folks today about just that and has this report.

West Monroe resident Craig West takes a balanced view when it comes to news and social media. He is well informed but knows that too much of anything is a bad thing.

“Oversaturation of anything is going to be a problem so if someone were watching too much I would just suggest back away and try to go do something that wouldn’t get your mind focused on those things. Try to focus on the good things that you’ve got around you people in your family those that you know well and try to see ways that you could improve that if you were stressed about other things.”

Keagan Vaughn also says that balance is key.

“For me I kind of focus on the community and the people who are around me because there’s nothing any of us can really do to stop any of these big crazy things but what we can do is help out in the community go to community events talk with people.”

West says that the recent attempt on former President Trump’s life and political rhetoric has him on going to God.

“Honestly I pray a lot and I know that neither candidate is going to be the perfect candidate and so I try to see looking ahead what’s going to be the best way through praying.”

Vaughn says that some jumped to conclusions when it came to identifying the shooter at the rally.

“I really think it surprised a lot of people finding out who the identity of the shooter was. So a lot of people had in their mind who they thought this person was going to be and then it turned out being someone people didn’t really expect.”
